The Lovely Sitemeter Issue

Well, I cannot read 90% of the blogs that I enjoy each day because – well, in short it appears that they prefer to know how many people are reading rather than just enjoying the fact that they are read.

I’ve never understood the attraction – unless, of course, this is your sole income and line of work. In that case it is a statistic useful to the operation thereof. However, if it is a gratuitous site – as is mine – I simply cannot comprehend why it matters.

I honestly haven’t a concern if I am viewed by 1 or 1,000. The fact is that this has served as a sort of diary. I was once quite the journal maven. But as it grew harder to hold a pen I just let the days slide by without comment. This format permits me to return to those…words…without the pain.

Still, know that while I adore you all I shall not be loading another bit of clunky software on an already overtaxed PC just so that I can enjoy the read. What I expect is for the Sitemeter staff to FIX their problem and produce a product useful to the marketplace. Let’s hope that happens soon. Until then, I shall miss you all and your mutual madness.
